Cedric Yarbrough Spill the Beans on Marie Carey ‘unprofessional’ and ‘borderline abusive’ behaviors on Set

Cedric Yarbrough Spill the Beans on Marie Carey 'unprofessional' and 'borderline abusive' behaviors on Set

Mariah Carey was originally enlisted to make a cameo in “The House” which stars Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler, but that never happened. While Ferrell was coy when asked on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” about his experience working with the R&B star, his co-star Cedric Yarbrough spilled the deets.

In a now-deleted Facebook post, Yarbrough detailed Carey’s diva demands on the set. “Ok since Will Ferrell is talking, I’ma talk-ing,” he began. “Yeah, a real funny cameo was SUPPOSED to happen in the new film #TheHouse with the superstar Mariah Carey. But it was ruined by superstar Mariah Carey.”

Yarbrough wrote that Carey arrived 3-4 hours late and “when Mariah finally showed up she refused to match the stunt. ‘Darling, I would never do it that way… .’ ” The actor/comedian went on recalling, “She then requested a large fan for her hair to be blown around and a camera that would be above her, basically a crane shot.”

“This lady was unprofessional & borderline abusive to our director, who tried his best to appease her every wish,” he added. While he admitted that “it’s not very good form to ‘tell’ on your fellow actors,” he said that the crew and director “didn’t deserve” the way Carey treated them. “This kind of behavior just isn’t cool,” he said.

He went on leaving a message to other actors, “For you young actors, be on time, know your homework, but be courteous and respectful. For us old heads, the same. This kind of behavior should be called out for what it is. I miss ‘I had a vision of love’ Mariah. Be a damn professional.”

Yarbrough noted that he left out “the worst” part about the whole fiasco.

Will Ferrell previously refused to reveal the details of why Carey’s cameo was cut. “There were suggestions that weren’t executed. She was on our set and, um, things happened. Things happened and didn’t happen,” he coyly said to Seth Meyers. “Let’s just put it this way: At about midnight, I got a knock on my trailer and said, ‘You can just go home. We’re not going to get to you.’ ”

Meanwhile, another of the film’s stars, Rob Huebel, said on SiriusXM’s Entertainment Weekly Radio, “We did some re-shoots with a pop star named Mariah Carey. It did not go well. F**king what is going on with her? It was bananas.”

Huebel said that Carey made some “amazing requests,” which included “all white roses” in her trailer as well as lamb stuffed animals. But that wasn’t the reason why her part was scrapped.

“She was hired to sing one song, and she was like, ‘You guys, I don’t want to sing that song.’ They’re like, ‘We hired you to sing this song,’ ” Huebel shared. “So then they were going to do this bit where they shoot her, I think, and they kill her-in the movie, not in real life-but she didn’t want that. She was like, ‘I don’t think my character would get killed by bullets. What if I deflected them like Wonder Woman?’ ”

Huebel continued, “They were like, ‘Mariah, we don’t have time for [this]. You’re getting paid so much money. We have you for one day. We don’t have time to argue with you. Just do it.’ She just didn’t want to do what they wanted her to do.”

“The House” revolves around a couple (Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler), who loses their daughter Alex’s college fund. They become desperate to earn it back so she can pursue her dream of attending a university. With the help of their neighbor Frank (Jason Mantzoukas), they decide to start an illegal casino in the basement of his house.

Andrew J. Cohen directed the movie and co-wrote the script with Brendan O’Brien. The R-rated comedy will hit theaters across the nation on June 30.
