Novak Djokovic is almost definitely going to withdraw from the U.S. Open, according to the Tennis Federation of Serbia’s doctor.

The doctor, Zdeslav Milinkovic, told Serbian newspaper Sportski Zurnal that Djokovic has a bone bruise from “excessive play” that requires between a month-and-a-half to three months of rest.

According to the doctor, the “symptoms are declining,” but Djokovic will need rehab on his elbow and still wants to avoid surgery.

Djokovic retired with an elbow injury in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon, saying it had been affecting him for more than a year-and-a-half. The Serb has since seen specialists in Toronto, and will now decide on his schedule.
