Beyonce Joins J Balvin on ‘Mi Gente (Remix)’ to Benefit Hurricane Relief Efforts

The ‘Single Ladies’ hitmaker will donate all the proceeds from the dancey track to ‘hurricane relief charities for Puerto Rico, Mexico and the other affected Carribbean islands.’

Beyonce Knowles

has just released her first song since giving birth in June, and we are beyond thrilled. The mother-of-three proves herself as a global diva by remixing J Balvin and Willy William’s raggaeton hit “Mi Gente”. The song finds Bey providing some new Spanish and English lines over the familiar Latin tunes.

The songstress makes sure to send some love to areas affected by Hurricane Maria that killed more than 325 people in September 19 on the song. “Lift up your people,” Beyonce sings. “From Texas, Puerto Rico/ Dem’ islands to Mexico.”

Following the song release, Bey takes to Instagram to reveal that proceeds from the remix will go to CEMA, UNICEF and Somos Una Voz. “I am donating my proceeds from this song to hurricane relief charities for Puerto Rico, Mexico and the other affected Carribbean islands. To help go to Beyonce.com/reliefefforts,” so she writes alongside a preview of the song.

This isn’t the first time Beyonce’s involved in philanthropic effort. Prior to this, she donated her money and time to various causes like Black Lives Matter, the Flint Water Crisis and more. She was even named the most charitable celebrity in 2016 by DoSomething.org for all her humanitarian efforts.

Bey’s rapper husband Jay-Z has also showed his own initiative to help the victims of Hurricane Maria, Hurricane Harvey and the earthquake. His streaming company Tidal will carry much-needed supplies, such as batteries, flashlights, portable lanterns, diapers and baby wipes to Puerto Rico next month.

Additionally, Tidal will host a benefit concert on October 17 to raise funds for the victims of the natural disasters. Some massive stars are set to take the stage at the benefit concert, including Jennifer LopezDJ KhaledChris BrownCardi BRemy MaDaddy YankeeFifth HarmonyIggy Azalea and Willow Smith among others.
