Lady GaGa fell ill. The 31-year-old artist was treated at hospital and forced to pull the plug on her scheduled tour stop in Brazil. She was supposed to perform at Barra Olympic Park in Rio de Janeiro on Friday night, September 15.
“Lady GaGa is suffering from severe physical pain that has impacted her ability to perform,” her rep announced. “As a result, she sadly must withdraw from this Friday’s Rock in Rio performance. Lady GaGa is under the care of expert medical professionals. She sends her love to all her fans in Rio and thanks them for their support and understanding.”
In a more personal statement, the Mother Monster wrote on her social media, “Brazil, I’m devastated that I’m not well enough 2 come to Rock In Rio. I would do anything 4 u but I have to take care of my body right now. I ask for your grace and understanding, and promise that I will come back and perform for you soon.”
She went on, “I was taken to the hospital its not simply hip pain or wear & tear from tour, I’m in severe pain. I’m in good hands w/ the very best doctors.” She additionally posted an Instagram picture of an IV drip in her arm. “I am so sorry, and I love you so much,” she wrote.
She also shared an image of a tattoo she got from Rio. “Remember years ago when I tattooed Rio on my neck, the tattoo was written by children in the favelas,” she told her fans. “You hold a special place in my heart I love you.”
Lady GaGa recently revealed that she’s battling fibromyalgia due to hip injury. In her Netflix documentary “Lady GaGa: Five Foot Two”, she was captured on camera bursting into tears as she endured the pain of her broken hip. “Do I look pathetic?” she sobbed. “I’m so embarassed.” She smoked pot to numb the pain.
Back in 2013, she was confined in a wheelchair and forced to cancel her tour dates to have surgery. She later revealed that she had “coin-shaped holes” in her legs and almost needed hip replacement.
