Tearing up, Selena stated in her acceptance speech that Francia should be getting the award instead of her. “To be honest, I think Francia should be getting this award because she saved my life,” she remarked. “I feel incredibly lucky. Honestly, I couldn’t be more grateful for the position I’ve been given in my career.”

Selena then expressed her gratitude to all the people who have helped her a lot when she was having a hard time. “I would like to thank my amazing team and my family because they stuck with me through some really hard times,” she added. “I got to do a lot this year, even though I had a couple of other things to do.”

The former Disney star concluded her speech by promising that she would make an epic album to thank all the fans who keep supporting her. “I don’t know how I’ll ever repay it, but maybe I’ll make an epic album next year,” she ended her speech.

Also at the show, Kelly Clarkson was honored with the Powerhouse Award after wowing the crowd with her rendition of “Meaning of Life”. After accepting the award from Kelly Rowland, the popstar went on delivering her speech, saying that women should come together instead of judging each other.

“I want to lift up and support everyone,” she said. “Accept the fact that there is room for everyone. I feel like once women start really respecting each other as women, artists and all of that then men will. We gotta start respecting each other first.”
