Sacked Ibadan kings no longer relevant — Mogajis

The Council of Authentic Mogajis in Ibadan has said the kings, whose installation by the Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi was nullified by an Oyo State High Court sitting in Ibadan, should stop wearing the crowns and coronets given to them during their installation because they have lost their traditional relevance.

The Mogajis made the pronouncement at the end of an emergency meeting which they held at the old Olubadan Palace in Ojo’ba. At the meeting were the group’s chairman, Mogaji Moshood Akere; the vice-chairman, Mogaji Oloko; spokesman, Mogaji Wale Oladoja; Mogaji AbdulJelyly Adanla, Mogaji Fatai Olanrewaju, Mogaji Molade Adeyemo, Mogaji Ademola Olasomi and Mogaji Owonbuwo.

The Mogajis frowned on a statement credited to the 21 ‘kings’ where they accused a former governor of the state and Osi Olubadan, High Chief Rashidi Ladoja, who secured the judgment, which sacked the kings, as an anti-government individual and an antagonist of Ajimobi.
