practitioners, especially dancers and choreographers, fast-rising
Nigerian Afro hip-hop sensation, Mofe Boyo, has lent her voice to
the recent movement by some elite entertainers on the ill-
treatment endured by dancers in the country.
According to the talented artiste who recently shot some videos
from her yet to be released an album, “just like so many young
people I love dancing even more as a form of art. I knew dancers
work a lot but I never knew they invest and work this much. They
deserve to be highly recognized and rewarded like everybody else
in the entertainment sector for their investment in the arts.”
Mofe explained further, “Artistes are paid millions of Naira and
these artistes employ dancers as staff but what I would like to see
is record companies and brands signing dancers as talents and
brand ambassadors respectively. Without dancers, artists’

performance will be gloomy and lifeless. Kaffy is undoubtedly
Nigeria’s greatest dance icon but in my opinion, she is still very
under appreciated.”
“Dance still remains a part of showbiz that has not comparatively
developed like music, comedy, acting and the likes. I really want
to see this sector grow, let us see how we can create
opportunities and indulge our hardworking youths. We can make
this a platform of success for so many young people.” She said.
Mofe Boyo remains one of the shining lights in the Afrobeat and
Afro-hip-hop genres. She has released a couple of singles and is
scheduled to launch her anticipated album soon.
