Jose Mourinho Full Press Conference ahead of the Game against Brighton, talks captaincy, Pogba,Valencia

Jose confirms Paul Pogba will captain # MUFC on Sunday and says “I couldn’t be happier with him than I am now.”

Mourinho on Paul Pogba: ‘I have never been so happy with as I am now.’ Says the only # mufc player he has ever fined is Anthony Martial for going AWOL last month.

“Lingard, Matic & Valencia are training with the team since yesterday. Fully fit but not yet ready to play or be selected I think. Some of the other boys are in better condition.” Jose Mourinho with the team news ahead of the Brighton game.

Jose Mourinho says he “doesn’t care” about Paul Pogba’s comments after the Leicester game and has “never been happier” with the Frenchman. Said he will be captain again against Brighton on Sunday.
Mourinho on Pogba: “The truth is we are together for two years and I’ve never been so happy with him as I am now. That’s the truth. “I cannot demand more from him, I cannot ask more from him”.

Mourinho on Brighton, “I don’t know, three months ago we lost there to a great coach and good players. They know how to play and have bought a few new players, the style is the same. The fact they lost the first match means they are playing for a reaction.”
Mourinho says he’s “never been happier” with Paul Pogba, and that there are no problems at all. The # mufc boss says the media can write what the want about him, but requests they don’t write lies about the Frenchman.
More Mourinho on Pogba: “He come here on Monday, he trained three days, I asked for his support, for his contribution in an important match for us when the team had difficulties and he did it.”
Mourinho: “Write what you want about Paul Pogba, write want you want about me but please don’t say lies and don’t put him in a situation where people think he is not a polite, educated guy. He is and he never had a fight with me. I have no problems at all.”
Mourinho on Pogba, “Please don’t write lies. Please don’t put Paul in a situation where he appears to be not polite. We’ve never had a heated discussion. Everything is about respect.”
Mourinho on Darmian, “It’s good news for me if Matteo isn’t leaving.”

Mourinho on Pogba, “I am very confident, but if he doesn’t [play well] that’s football. If his objective is to play for the team and the fans then he has the right to a bad match. Everyone has ups and downs in the performance level.”
Mourinho on Pogba, “When he says he does it for the fans and the team, that’s exactly what I want. I want him to play for the team, I repeat I couldn’t be happier. He’ll be captain for the next match yes.”
Mourinho, “Antonio Valencia is my captain and that was a process that started years ago. We saw a young guy in Pogba against Basel who was a product of the academy and the right fit to be captain.”
