The Director-General of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Brig. Gen. Suleiman Kazaure has disclosed that the increment in the allowance of corps members would need to wait for the new national minimum wage to take effect.
The NYSC DG made this known in Akure during the Annual Management Conference of the scheme, which coincided with its 45th anniversary
Asked when the increment of corps members would take effect, the DG said:
“You know that the scheme is not different from the civil service and we would need to wait for the new national minimum wage to take effect.”
He further revealed that the Federal Government has equally approved the enrollment of corps members into the National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS.
On August 8, Kazaure had reassured corps members of the upward review of their allowance.
Bear in mind that he had a week before then said the President Muhammadu Buhari led Government has begun an upward review of the N19, 800 monthly allowance paid to corpers.
