Charlie Puth & Selena Gomez’s ‘We Don’t Talk Anymore’ Video Hits 2 Billion Views on YouTube
More than two years after it was released, the music video for Charlie Puth and Selena Gomez’s “We Don’t Talk Anymore” surpassed 2 billion views on YouTube.
The duet was the third single from Puth’s 2016 debut album Nine Track Mind. Its official music video was released in August 2016 and is now one of fewer than 30 videos to reach the 2 billion-view milestone on YouTube.
Directed by Phil Pinto, the video follows Puth and a former love interest through split-screen shots of their lives apart in New York City.
They both seem ecstatic as they attend shows and parties and go on dates, but at the end of the night, they can’t help but flip through adorable old photos of each other.
While this may be a terrible idea for those trying to move on from a past relationship, these two former lovers can’t seem to gather the courage to reach out to each other, which could ultimately mean that some things should be left unsaid.
Some other members of YouTube’s 2 billion club include Shakira’s “Waka Waka” and Calvin Harris’ “This Is What You Came For,” featuring Rihanna. The most-viewed video on YouTube remains Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito,” featuring Daddy Yankee, which is nearing the 6 billion mark.
