Tumblr is inching closer to a more PG friendly version of itself. Come December 17th, a new policy update will remove all adult content on the site.
In a blog post, Tumblr executives flat out said in a statement: “Adult content will no longer be allowed here.” Now for those who have an issue with the new policy, even if you post adult content a new algorithm will flag the post and delete it immediately. The good news is if you feel as though your post was improperly flagged you can always appeal the post.
Even the CEO #JeffD’Onofrio steppe in and said: “We’ve given serious thought to who we want to be to our community moving forward. We’ve realized that in order to continue to fulfill our promise and place in culture, especially as it evolves, we must change.”
He added one last statement for those who can’t get with the new program: “There are no shortage of sites on the internet that feature adult content. We will leave it to them and focus our efforts on creating the most welcoming environment possible for our community.”
