Some weeks ago, it was revealed that Alex Ekubo had to miss the Oscar Awards held in United States Of America, so he could fly back home to vote during the elections.
This was made known by his USA based, model girlfriend, Fancy Acholonu.
The model called her man, Alex Ekubo a patriotic Nigerian after he skipped going for the Oscars with her so he can return to Nigeria and perform his civic duty.
The international model said she had to go solo to the 91st Academy Awards because her actor boyfriend chose to fly back to Nigeria to vote in the general elections rather than attend the exclusive event.
Though it saddened her that he wasn’t there, she said she was proud of his decision to make Nigeria a priority.
“Yes I really came back to Nigeria to vote and couldn’t go for the Oscars. I had to perform my civic duties. I owe that to my country. I voted and I felt great to be a part of the exercise. I felt great I part of the system. I saw people turn out in numbers to vote. That’s amazing. I hope it would become better in other coming elections.”
On why he is fond of playing lover boy roles in movies, Alex Ekubo says he can’t be stereotyped but fortunately gets more of such movies.
” I recently did Zero Hour, Power Of One, I didn’t play the lover boy roles in these movies and some other serious ones.
I go into movies, head up and give it my best shot. I won’t say I am tired of the playboy role, but that’s what people like.
So, if the script says, I should play a husband or lover boy, sure why not.
In fact, I’m planning to get married pretty soon.
