The first Major big names to crash out in round today is Venus Williams , the 38 year old 7 times Grand Slam winner lost in straight sets to ninth-seeded Elina Svitolina 6-3, 6-3.
This is the the second year in a row Venus had lost her opening match at Roland Garros. Angelique Kerber also crashed out of the competition losing in straight sets to Anastasia Potapova 6-4, 6-2.
