Previous First woman, Patience Jonathan, has asked the Federal High Court in Lagos state to arrange the EFCC to discharge her seized $5.7m and N2.4bn as no Nigerian has turned out to state she stole their cash. The previous First said this amid the continued becoming aware of the body of evidence documented against her by the EFCC yesterday Friday, May 24th.

Talking through her insight, Mrs. Jonathan contended that the caught cash was money blessings she got when her significant other was in office and not continues of wrongdoing. She spoke to Justice Mojisola Olatoregun to reject the application by the EFCC, supplicating that the cash is forever relinquished to the national government. She contended that it wasn’t right for the anti-graft office to label her cash as continues of wrongdoing as they have not had the option to substantiate their cases that she was occupied with budgetary violations while her better half filled in as President.

Her guidance contended that segment 17 of the Advance Fee Fraud, which EFCC depended upon to catch Patience Jonathan’s assets, was just material to fraudsters.

“It is not the law that if the EFCC finds money in an account and it doesn’t like the owner’s face, it comes to court and says ‘forfeit it’. The government is at liberty to apply for forfeiture but the offence must be stated. The first respondent is a wife to a former deputy governor, governor, vice president, and president. Even the current occupier of the office of the First Lady wants to build a university. In this country, First Ladies enjoy a lot of goodwill. She (Patience Jonathan) stated that governors gave her money. Nobody wrote that she stole their money,” the SAN said.
