It was a hot battle, very fierce but there is always a winner in every contest.

Congressperson Ahmed Lawan has been chosen Senate President of the Ninth Assembly. The legislators choose had the decision for Senate President early today.

Lawan who speaks to Yobe North Senatorial locale was supported by the APC to keep running for the position.

Lawan surveyed an aggregate of 79 casts a ballot. 107 congresspersons were in participation.

His principal rival, Ali Ndume who had the support of PDP, surveyed an aggregate of 28 casts a ballot.

Lawan takes over from Bukola Saraki as the Senate president.
