Ex-NIMASA DG, Calistus Obi, sentenced to 7 years imprisonment over N136m fraud

Equity Mojisola Olatoregun of the Federal High Court in Lagos today Monday, June third, condemned a previous Acting Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Calistus Obi, to seven years detainment over N136 million misrepresentation.


The court had on May 25th, indicted Obi for purposely changing over and washing N136 million implied for the partnership while he was in office.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) hauled Obi and his co-plotters under the watchful eye of the court in 2016 for the trick, transformation and illegal tax avoidance of the aggregate of N136 million.

Obi was charged nearby one Alu Dismas, a helper to Patrick Akpobolokemi, a previous Director-General of NIMASA, on an 8 tally charge of trick and illegal tax avoidance.
