Super Eagles’ Captain, Mikel Obi retires from International football after AFCON

Nigeria National team also known as the Super Eagles will miss the leadership of their captain, John Mikel Obi. The player announced his retirement shortly after winning the bronze medal in Egypt at this years AFCON.

According to the football star, he made mention of how he started his career in Egypt and he is glad how he is ending it in Egypt too after winning over Tunisia to be the the third Africa champion.

Here are his exact words;

“At the age of 32 it’s time for me to retire from the National team and let the youth take over, who’ve done an amazing job securing a bronze medal at AFCON 2019,” Mikel said on Thursday.
