Disney’s fear has come to past. After spending two weeks on the Box Office number one position, the Fast & Furious franchise, ‘Hobbs and Shaw’ has debuted number one on box office.
The movies has bagged $60 Million in its opening week in the US surpassing Disney’s ‘The Lion King’ live-action movie. It has been recorded to be the biggest opening week a movie has ever made in the careers of both Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Jason Statham.
However, the numbers are increasingly amazing in the global field compared to just America. It has made twice the amount it made in North America, an amount of $120 Million, making a global total of $160 million.
Even with such numbers, Hobbs & Shaw is still not the highest grossing opening week of the Fast & Furious Franchise. In 2001, Fast & Furious movie, ‘The Fast and The Furious’ made $207.3 million in the opening week. ‘The Fate of the Furious’ also made a record breaking of $532 million worldwide.
