Sensational singer Dennis Nana Dwamena known in the showbiz as KiDi, has revealed recently that he was refused the chance to do his National Service at Presbyterian Church’s Headquarters in Accra, after he was posted there.
In Ghana as part of the demands of tertiary institutions, Graduates are required to undergo a compulsory 12-months National Service training.
During an interview with Franky 5 on ‘This Is Gospel’ on Hitz FM, KiDi indicated that, he was refused registration by staff at the Church’s Headquarters
‘‘It was the Presbyterian Headquarters…I didn’t choose it…That was my first posting. I remember that day walking into that building and those guys rejected me. They were like, ‘no you don’t look like you were supposed to work here. Are you sure they posted you here? Go back’,” he narrated
According to the ‘Gyal dem sugar’ he was rejected by the Church because of his hairstyle.
I was wearing a nice shirt. I dressed like I was going to somebody’s job. They said my hair. They just looked at me and judged me that I cannot work there,” he said again.
The ‘Adiepena’ hitmaker further indicated that he opted for a repost at the National Service Secretariat.
“The second posting is where I got, NSS Headquarters. I felt really bad. It was really sad for me. Why would you just look at somebody and judge them,” KiDi asked.
But he then said that he is grateful he was refused admission at the church’s headquarters for he couldn’t have worked productively with people who are quick to judge.
KiDi is also troubled that Christians do otherwise of what they preach, thus love.
