Only Parliament should elect the President, not the whole country- Actor Kwaku Manu

One of the most consistent Ghanaian actors over the years, has a political opinion to share.

Kumawood Actor Kwaku Manu, who is a keen supporter of Ghana’s first President – Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah – has said that, the only President to ever help Ghana wholeheartedly was Nkrumah.

According to him, Kwame Nkrumah was somehow like Jesus and Moses compared to his leadership skills and sacrifices, and that the late President was a god for Ghana.

“Kwame Nkrumah was like the Jesus of Ghana. When he fought for independent and came to power, people he assigned to help build Ghana was bringing the nation down, spending the nation’s money anyhow. These same people conspired to overthrown Kwame Nkrumah and make him look bad to Ghanaians.

“Left to me alone, we shouldn’t vote to elect a president in this country. We should just elect the president from Parliament, and not even worry ourselves to conduct a general election. With that, we can have every reason to demote you when you mess up in power. It saves you the trouble of spending huge sums of money on campaign and stuff. This nonsense campaign thing makes politicians spend the state’s money anyhow because they want to pay their debts. That’s what’s bringing the country down.” The actor said in an interview with Arnold on Vibes on 5.
