“The doors are closed” they said.
After the back-and-forth with both Sony Pictures and Disney – mother company of Marvel Studios – about the Spider-Man franchise leaving the Marvel Studios, Sony Pictures have decided to draw the curtains and pull the plug on everything.
CEO of Sony Pictures, Tony Vinciquerra, revealed that “for the moment the doors are closed.”
However, Vinciquerra revealed that there was no friction between the two companies, just that they could not come to an agreement.
“We had a great run with (Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige) on Spider-Man movies,
“We tried to see if there’s a way to work it out….the Marvel people are terrific people, we have great respect for them, but on the other hand we have some pretty terrific people of our own. Kevin didn’t do all the work.” He said.
“Spiderman was fine before the event movies, did better with the event movies, and now that we have our own universe, he will play off the other characters as well.
“I think we’re pretty capable of doing what we have to do here.” Vinciquerra said.
Speaking to Tom Holland who played the role of Peter Parker – Spider Man – from 2016, he said:
“Sony has also been really good to me, and the global success of Spider-Man: Far From Home is a real testament to their support, skill, and commitment. The legacy and future of Spidey rests in Sony’s safe hands. I really am nothing but grateful, and I’ve made friends for life along the way.”
