The Kano State Government has announced the appointment of the former Emir of Kano’s
son, Aminu Bayero as the new Emir of Kano empire.
The Ganduje led administration made this known through a press release by the secretary
to the state government.
The political icon turned emir, Mr Bayero, who is the son of late Emir Ado Bayero, was until
his appointment the emir of Bichi, one of the controversial new emirates created by
Governor Abdullahi Ganduje in Kano state.
The appointment comes a few hours after the dethronement of the Kano emir who was also
the former Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Muhammadu Sanusi.
The secretary to the government of the state who announced the dethronement of Sanusi
Usman Alhaji, also made the announcement accompanied by the four Kano Emirate
kingmakers at the Kano Government House Monday afternoon as the new Emir of Kano is
crowned.
The decision was made during an emergency meeting that the governor of Kano state and
other stake holders in the state were in attendance.
It was handled so swiftly and without wasting much time and energy in choosing a new
Emir of Ancient Kano although many list were brought to the table of the governor.
