Manchester City defeat Aston Villa to win their third consecutive league cup in a thrilling affair at the Wembley stadium.
The Manchester team who had won the last two edition of the cup made sure they
cement their name as one of the top side to successfully defend their title with an
hard-fought 2-1 win over a determined Aston Villa side.
First half goals from Sergio Aguero and Rodri were enough for Pep Guardiola’s side
to win the title for a third consecutive season.
Legendary manager like Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho have now become the only
mangers to win the competition more than Pep Guardiola in the history of the
competition.
3 – Pep Guardiola has now won the League Cup on three occasions (2018, 2019, 2020) – only Alex Ferguson (4), Brian Clough (4) and Jose Mourinho (4) have won the competition more as managers. Vigour.

Speaking after the match, Guardiola said;
“Three times in a row is a big success. It’s the consistency, incredible.”
“It was awesome. We struggled in the first minutes and the last ones. They had two clear chances in the first minutes but we played really well, especially in the second half.”
