ASUU declares lecture-free day as it gets set to shut down public universities

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) finally agrees to call off its eight months strike after reaching a N70 billion payout from the Federal government.

Recall about a week ago, the Federal government represented by the Minister of Labor,

Dr Chris Ngige reached a mutual agreement to exempt ASUU from its proposed Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System.

About two months ago ASUU had debunked rumour of resumption which was spreading

like wildfire on social media that they had called off the Strike.

Just last week via their Twitter handled advised final year student and 300 level students

to dust their books and began reading with indications that the Strike might be called

come December 7th next month.
