Barcelona forward Lionel Messi has continued his rivalry with Cristiano Ronaldo as he smashes a record once held by the Portuguese forward.
Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo rivalry remains the best football has ever seen as both
superstars have been breaking and setting records ever since they rose to limelight.
With Ronaldo breaking Brazilian Pele’s longtime career goal record some weeks ago to take the
spotlight away from Messi, the Argentine ensured that his name made headlines as he
overtakes the Juventus forward in the numbers of free kicks scored for their club.
Messi scored a well taken free kick in Barcelona’s 4-0 win at Nuevo Estadio de Los Cármenes against Granada to ensure the he surpass Ronaldo.
The Barcelona captain have now scored 48 free kick goals for club while Cristiano Ronaldo has 47.
However, both superstars are still lacking behind Brazilian legend Juninho Pernambucano who is the best free-kick taker of all-time.
Juninho was an absolute master from dead-ball situations and scored a ridiculous 77 free-kicks playing for Lyon, Vasco da Gama, Al-Gharafa and hometown club, Sport Club do Recife.
