“It destroyed my legs and career” – Nurse who was a chronic drug addict tells her story (Video)


Aggie Uwem Ekwere, a Nigerian nurse has shared her story on how drug addiction almost ruined her life by affecting her legs and taking a toll on her career.

In an interview with BBC Pidgin, Mrs. Aggie stated that despite being a nurse and practicing, she was extremely addicted to Pentazocine, which affected her to a very great extent."It destroyed my legs and career" - Nurse who was a chronic drug addict tells her story (Video)

She stated that it all started when she had an accident and the doctor advised her to use it as a pain killer. According to her, she later had another accident and this time, she didn’t go to the doctor for advice, rather she began taking the drug by herself

The mother of three averred that when she was still addicted to it, she gets furious if she doesn’t take it for a while.Nurse




Speaking further, Aggie while sharing the consequences of the drug on her health noted that currently she can’t walk properly as it affected her knees by making it stiff. She disclosed that her addiction also made her to be sacked from her job and contributed to why she couldn’t complete her university education.
