Toba Adedeji, a journalist for The Nation newspaper, was shot by police officers in Osogbo who were attempting to disperse some demonstrators.
The police also harmed a student whose identity could not be determined right away.
Some young people gathered near Osogbo’s Olaiya Bridge to protest the alleged extrajudicial killing of one of them, Abiola.
The demonstrators had barricaded the route and made it impossible for vehicles to pass.
About 30 minutes after the protest, police assaulted the location and opened fire on the jumbled throng and journalists on the scene.
The journalist, who was shot in the thigh, was rushed to Osun State University, Osogbo for treatment.
