NYSC anthem composer Adetiran dies at 74

The composer of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) anthem, Dr Oluwole Adetiran, is dead, The Nation learnt yesterday.
He was aged 74.
Multiple members of Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) confirmed his demise to The Nation.

Last year, Adetiran was seriously ill. He explained that he had been afflicted by various diseases, including hypertension, diabetes and prostate cancer since 2018

He had composed the anthem for the NYSC scheme in 1984.Nysc

Adediran, who studied Music at University of Nigeria, Nsuka, recalled that he composed the anthem while he was serving as a corps member in Oyo State.

Before his demise, the NYSC anthem composer was the National Music Director of Celestial Church of Christ (CCC). He had served as the Head of Music Department of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, between 2003 and 2007 before his retirement from the institution in 2008.
