Management of Ekiti State University has called the statement credited to the Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities Professor Osodoke has unwarranted and extremely insensitive.
The chairman during an interview with a journalist said that all Universities that are not on strike are nothing but quacks.
When pressed further, he reiterated the fact that credible institutions like the University of Ibadan, Bayero University Kano, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and the Obafemi Awolowo University are on strike, so he is not worried about any other university that is not on strike.
The school management noted that EKSU could not be called quack or irrelevant since it had been ranked among the top 14 universities in the country and second among state universities.
The statement reads in part:
“The Management Of EKSU Views This Denigrating Remark About Some Universities, Coming From The National President Of ASUU As Unfortunate , Reckless And Unwarranted.”
The decision by the Ekiti State University to join other state universities in calling off the strike action in their institution did not go down well with the leadership of ASUU, especially its chairman.
The strike, which began in February, has entered its sixth month with negotiations with parties involved hitting a brick wall.
