Brazil forward, Neymar, was in tears after he was forced off with an ankle injury during their 2-0 victory over Serbia in their 2022 World Cup opener on Thursday evening.
Richarlison scored twice as the Selecao started their tournament on a bright note.
But one of the tournament favourites now face an anxious wait after Neymar was forced off in the second half.
During the game against Serbia, Neymar was fouled nine times, more than any other player on the field. Brazil will be concerned by the final challenge that forced him to leave the field with 10 minutes remaining.
Two physios on the bench immediately began treating Neymar. However, the 30-year-anguish old’s was visible as he covered his face with his jersey while being consoled by his Brazil teammates.
After the game, photographers near Brazil’s bench captured Neymar’s right ankle swelling.
