“It’s a good way to go into the break”- Arsenal captain, Odegaard says following superb performance against Wolves

Arsenal captain, Odegaard says

Martin Odegaard has detailed how he has added more goals to his Arsenal game because the skipper has already scored six goals this season.

The most recent of these was a 2-0 victory away at Wolves, when the Norwegian playmaker scored twice at Molineux. Odegaard only had seven shots in the entire 2021-22 season, compared to his personal best of 11 while on loan with Vitesse in the Netherlands. However, after working to improve his final product, he now feels more prepared to make a significant contribution in the final third.

After reaching the World Cup break, Odegaard told Arsenal’s official website that he has developed into more of a goal-scoring danger for a group that will be in first place in the Premier League at Christmas.

He said, “I think I’m better at coming into those areas now – I attack the box more. They may not be the most beautiful goals but I’m in the right places and that helps a lot. I’m always happy to help the team with goals.

“It’s a good way to go into the break. We said before the game that we wanted to finish strong and we wanted to bring this good feeling into the break and we did that. We have to come back even stronger and better but at the moment, it’s looking good.”

From their 14 Premier League games in 2022–23, Arsenal has accrued 12 victories and 37 points, holding a five-point lead at the top of the standings.

Odegaard has scored the most goals in the Premier League for Arsenal this season (6 goals), and only Kevin De Bruyne, James Maddison, and Leandro Trossard have contributed to more away goals in the competition (6 each) (5 – 4 goals, 1 assist).

On Boxing Day, Mikel Arteta‘s team will play at Emirates Stadium in a rivalry match against West Ham of London.
