Atiku Abubakar hails Buhari on oil discovery in north

Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari on the discovery of oil in the north.

This came after Buhari authorized oil exploration in the Kolmani field, Barambu village, in Bauchi State’s Alkaleri Local Government Area.

Describing the discovery as a healthy development, the former vice president said it will go a long way in revitalising the fortunes of the Northeastern region of Nigeria.

He, however, lamented that the discovery was without prejudice to his focus on the diversification of our economy

Atiku tweeted on Wednesday, “The discovery of crude oil and the official flag-off of the exploration by President Muhammadu Buhari, @MBuhari, is a healthy development that will go a long way in revitalising the fortunes of the Northeastern region of Nigeria.

“It will create an opportunity for more investment in education with an emphasis on skills training and entrepreneurship development, which in return, will further generate prosperity for our young people and guarantee a better future for the upcoming generation.

“However, this discovery is without prejudice to my focus on the diversification of our economy that will ensure multiple streams of revenues for the country.”
