“You Are Insulting Late Deborah” – Nigerians Blast Atiku Over Condolence To Davido Following Son’s Death

Many Nigerians are upset by a sympathy letter from the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to Afrobeats artist Davido, who just lost his three-year-old son, Ifeanyi Adeleke.

Many Twitter users believe Atiku’s condolences are an insult to the late Deborah Samuel, a student at the Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto who was lynched to death for supposed blasphemy.

@Joe-nwodo, who slammed Atiku for deleting his condolence message to the family of late Deborah Samuel as at the time she was murdered, wrote: “Until you condole with the family of Deborah, on whose corpse you played dirty politics, any other condolence is pretence.”

@adawa-bala wrote: “Sir! Your insensitivity is too much! This is an insult to late Deborah, it’s very obvious already that you’re a religious bigot.”Screenshot 20221101 1122454 Screenshot 20221101 1149502 compress0

Atiku’s condolence message read: “My thoughts and prayers are with Davido and Chioma and the Adeleke family at this time. I pray for God to strengthen and comfort them. -AA”Screenshot 20221101 1122452 compress29

On the other hand, Shehu Sani, former Senator from Kaduna central sympathized with the singer’s family on Twitter saying: “The death of the Son of Davido, Ifeanyi is tragic. All parents will share this painful loss and take lessons out of it. May the Lord gives the parents of Ifeanyi the fortitude to bear the loss.”

Meanwhile, emotions are still high over the toddler’s death.

Reports say the innocent boy drowned today inside the family’s swimming pool in Lagos State and could not be revived because he had been underwater for a very long time.

“He was immediately pulled out and rushed to Evercare hospital in the state where he was confirmed dead on arrival,” reports confirm.

Sequel to this, a good number of celebrities among other well-meaning Nigerians have posted comforting messages on their platforms.
