A man reportedly died of a heart attack while watching James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water with his brother in India.
Lakshmireddy Srinu and his brother, Raju, went to a local movie in Andhra Pradesh’s Kakinada district to watch the sequel.
During the film, Srinu collapsed during the movie and his brother rushed him to Peddapuram Government Hospital where he later died from a heart attack. According to India Today, this is not the first time someone died while watching the film.
A 42-year-old man in Taiwan died under similar circumstances while watching the first ‘Avatar’ movie during its release in 2010. Doctors said he had a history of high blood pressure and was ‘over-excited’ from watching the movie which triggered his symptoms.
However, experts said there are underlying factors that could trigger sudden heart attacks such as high blood pressure, genetics, and obesity.
