Uproar as Nigerian Police Force Celebrates World Human Rights day

As the Nigerian Police Force commemorates World Human Rights Day, there have been mixed reactions.

The United Nations set aside December 10th to commemorate its fortieth major achievement, the 1948 ‘Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).

The Nigerian Police Force, known for violating human rights and killing citizens it is supposed to protect, joined the rest of the world in celebrating the day on its official Twitter page.

The NPF shared a quote written by Anti-apartheid activist and the first president of South Africa, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela. The quote reads: “To deny people their human rights is to challenge their very humanity”.

Nigerians have reac with uproar as the Nigerian Police Force celebrates Human Rights Day.

Many slammed the organisation for being irresponsible and non-challant over human lives.

“The irony of the one of the most corrupt human rights violators in the world talking about human rights. If you get head, you go check the comments and see how disastrous you people are. But una no get head. As long as you don’t let us have peace, una no go get peace” – Human Rights activist, Rinu Oduala blows hot.
