“Regina will not be his last” – Reactions trail Ned Nwoko’s comment on polygamy

Prince Chinedu Munir Nwoko, popularly known as Ned Nwoko, billionaire politician and husband to Nollywood star Regina Daniels, has aroused outrage with his comments on polygamy.

Ned Nwoko accused southern Nigerian males for contributing to prostitution in society by avoiding polygamy in an interview.

He said: “Many women are out there on their own without husbands, especially in the southern part of the country, and there is a high level of prostitution. What some of our girls do to make ends meet is regrettable and if our men emulate their northern counterparts by having more than one wife, that could probably change the situation.”

“The average southerner may have only one wife, but many girlfriends also, and he is spending his money on the girlfriends; sometimes even more than on his wife. The man, who has three wives, for instance, concentrates on them and his children; every money he makes is spent on the family and he is more likely not to have any girlfriends or concubines. The money those with several girlfriends spend on them is a gift, not an investment in the family.”

Nwoko, who has four wives and nineteen children, said he is serving Nigeria by marrying many wives. He added that he and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, is also doing the same thing.

Reacting to Ned Nwoko‘s opinion, Netizens have raised concerns about his manner of thinking as many asserted that Regina Daniel won’t be his last wife.

Create jobs, provide enabling environment for women to work and thrive in their businesses then there will be less prostitution. Although some of them are into prostitution cos of lack of contentment but a lot of them are ready to work. Marrying them is not the solution, empower them to work for their own money.
