Dr. Alex Otti, the Labour Party’s (LP) governorship candidate in Abia State, has gained immense popularity among Abians thanks to the party’s presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi.
Abia State residents, particularly Peter Obi supporters, believe Alex Otti possesses the character and integrity of Mr Obi and, as such, should be elected as the state’s next governor.
A video in which Alex Otti revealed how he assisted Peter Obi in investing the money he left behind as governor of Anambra State has gained him massive support on social media, with many drumming support for his governorship ambition.
However, the massive support for Alex Otti is apparently against the position of the incumbent governor of the state, Okezie Ikpeazu, who has his preferred governorship candidate from his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

In light of this, it is believed that Governor Ikpeazu, one of the five aggrieved governors on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who are about to finalise their decision on who to back for the presidency in the 2023 general elections, may not be comfortable if the G5 governors recourse to endorsing Mr Obi for president in 2023.
It is understandable that Alex Otti’s chances in the forthcoming gubernatorial polls in Abia State will increase immensely if the G5 governors choose Mr Obi as their preferred presidential candidate which will automatically demand Ikpeazu’s endorsement, wittingly or unwittingly.
To this end, there are predictions that Governor Ikpeazu may kick against the endorsement of Mr Obi’s presidential ambition by the G5 governors.
