Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has stated that he and Cristiano Ronaldo do not need to pose for photos to prove their friendship.
Benzema said this while explaining why he was not photographed with the Portuguese legend at Los Blancos’ training on Saturday.
Following the termination of his contract with Manchester United, the former forward now plays for Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr.
Real Madrid’s Benzema-led team is in Saudi Arabia for the Supercopa de Espana, and Ronaldo was at their training ground on Saturday ahead of the team’s final against Barcelona on Sunday.
Real Madrid has also invited the ex-Manchester United and Juventus player to attend the game.
Ronaldo ran into several Real Madrid players, including Rodrygo, who was seen shivering with delight.
Benzema, though, was not spotted anywhere near his former attacking partner in the videos that emerged online.
This has fueled speculation that the two former Real Madrid teammates are not on the same wavelength.
“We don’t need photos to say we’re friends; the photos are for Instagram or Twitter, that’s another world,” Benzema told Goal.
“We didn’t have time to greet each other because I was training and he followed me. I hope to see him tomorrow at the stadium and be able to talk to him for a while.”
