On Friday, there was a significant deployment of security personnel in key areas of Osogbo, the capital of Osun State, as the Election Petition Tribunal prepared to issue its decision.
In the July 16 governorship election, the All Progressives Congress and ex-Osun State Governor Adegboyega Oyetola challenged the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, who was returned elected by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Armed police officers were seen at the PDP and APC secretariats in Osun State, as well as the APC presidential campaign’s state office in Osogbo.
The road leading to the Osun State High Court, where the panel will deliver the verdict, was closed to traffic, forcing students, staff, and others with business along the route to travel long distances.
