Wunmi Obe, a singer, has revealed that she and her sister Angela Emuwa are the female voices in the Tandi Guarana commercial that was popular in Nigeria in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Mrs. Obe made the revelation in the comments section of a Facebook post by qed.ng on Sunday, February 26.
Mr. Iyanda had posted the video of the advert with the caption “This meant a lot to my generation of Mile 2 children.”
Replying, Wunmi Obe wrote, “At this point, Angela Emuwa and I should take a bow for being the female voices behind this beautiful jingle.”
Mrs Emuwa, who is the chairman of Punch Nigeria Limited (publishers of Punch newspapers), responded to her sister’s comment, writing “Yes o, chai so many many moons ago!”
Tandi Guarana was a carbonated drink that captured Nigerians with its advert and taste.
It was bottled by Coastal Bottlers Limited located in the Amuwo-Odofin axis of the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, Lagos.
Its advert was produced by Rosabel Advertising, one of the leading creative agencies in Nigeria at the time.
