Early Life

Larissa de Macedo Machado aka Anitta (born 30 March 1993). Anitta was born and brought up in the Honório Gurgel neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro, a place having one of the city’s lowest HDIs; she is the youngest daughter of Miriam Macedo and Mauro Machado; her brother Renan Machado currently functions as one of her song producers and oversees her career. Larissa grew up in a low-income family with divorced parents, with her mother getting custody.

Education

She began taking English classes at the age of 11. She was already interested in pursuing an academic career and above-average ability. Her mother’s teacher later offered her free dance lessons.

After graduating from one of the country’s most famous public schools, the Dom Pedro II School, she completed a technical course in public administration while in high school.

Career

She began her singing career at the age of eight, when, at the request of her maternal grandparents, she joined the choir of the Santa Luzia’s Parish in her neighborhood.

Anitta’s professional singing career began in 2010 when she was introduced to funk carioca producer Renato Azevedo (aka Batutinha).

He had watched some of her home videos on YouTube and invited her to record some demo recordings for him. After being cleared, she was selected to sign a deal with Furaco 2000, an independent and specialized funk label.
