Several Paris Saint-Germain fans gathered on Monday to protest the team’s current situation. The ultras threw flags at the board and attacked stars like Lionel Messi.
Some of those fans had recently turned against a player whom they regard as a symbol of everything the club has gone wrong in relying on superstar signings while failing to develop a truly competitive team.
The events of this week are undoubtedly the last straw. Messi appeared in PSG’s drab 3-1 home loss to Lorient in Ligue 1 on Sunday. He then traveled to Saudi Arabia without authorisation from the club.
As a result, Argentina’s 35-year-old World-Cup winning captain would be sidelined for “several days”. This situation has angered some fans and they insulted the 35-year-old: “Messi, son of a b****! Son of a b****,” they shouted.
