Airtel Nigeria, a popular mobile network provider, has formally introduced services using fifth generation (5G) technology in the nation.
With the introduction, there are now three operators providing services on the technology, which promises to give extremely fast data services and reinvent services in other economic sectors like agriculture and medical.
The service was first introduced by MTN Nigeria, then by Mafab Communications.
Femi Oshinlaja, Airtel Nigeria’s Chief Commercial Officer, announced that the company’s 5G services would initially be offered in four of the nation’s largest cities: Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, Lagos, Ogun, and Rivers States.
