Osun state governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, has submitted the letter of medical leave to the Ondo State House of Assembly.
The Speaker of the House, Olamide Oladiji, addressed on behalf of the lawmakers when he said that the Governor had been given permission to take a 21-day leave of absence from June 7 to July 6, 2023, in order to receive medical treatment overseas.
According to the letter, the leave, which began on June 7, will now last until July 6, 2023, because of the public holidays on June 12 (Democracy Day) and June 28–29 (Eid el Kabir).
The Governor has promised to return on July 6, 2023, and has instructed his deputy, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, to serve in that capacity while he is abroad.
The Speaker had earlier described the Governor as a lover of peace and an apostle of rule of law.
