Bobi Wine, real name Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, a singer and politician, has slammed fellow artist Eddy Kenzo’s new Federation.
The Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), which was created last month, is the name of this Federation.
It was exposed to the world, and Eddy Kenzo was named president because he was a founding member, and he was granted three deputies, Sheebah, Pallaso, and Juliana Kanyomozi.
When this federation was unveiled, people immediately started wondering it’s motive because there was already an association UMA taking on artistes.
There was a rumor that these artistes were targeting government money although Eddy Kenzo said the motives of the Federation is to improve the music Industry.
He said they are focusing on the copyright of the music and making sure musicians earn from their work like the way it is in other countries.
But during Kato Lubwama’s burial, Bobi Wine was clear on the motive of the Federation saying he has heard that government is going to give them money.
According to Bobi Wine, artistes need to open up their minds because this government money will not help in anything.
He said musicians should learn not to be used by these officials because they feel intimidated by the art industry as it has produced someone like him.
“Artists, open your minds, you are better than the handouts the government gives you, I recently heard that they want to give you over UGX 30Bn, what can that money do for you?,” – Bobi Wine
