Spotify’s 2023 ‘tracks of Summer’ forecasts feature tracks from the Nigerian singing duet, Divine Ikubor, aka Rema, and David Adeleke, called Davido.
The only African songs projected by Spotify to top charts this summer were “Unavailable” from Davido’s most recent album “Timeless,” and Rema’s popular song “Calm Down,” which she co-wrote with American superstar Selena Gomez.
“To help visualize what’s hot worldwide, we’ve created a map that highlights the most popular tunes in more than 100 countries across the Northern Hemisphere,” Spotify said about the predictions in a statement on the streaming platform’s website on Wednesday.
Some of the songs predicted for the summer include, ‘Cruel Summer’ by Taylor Swift, ‘Favourite Song’ by Toosii, ‘Calm Down’ by Rema and Selena Gomez, ‘All My Life’ by Lil Durk ft. J. Cole, ‘Unavailable’ by Davido ft. Musa Keys, and ‘Where She Goes’ by Bad Bunny, among others.
Davido, meanwhile, retweeted the prediction along with a wonderful smile emoji to show his delight over it.
