Nigerian singer and actor YhemoLee recently told an inspiring story about how he was instrumental in bringing up-and-coming Afrobeats talent Asake and well-known musician Olamide together.
Yhemo Lee recalled their almost 13-year friendship during an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, and he voiced his shock when Olamide opted to sign Asake.
Everything started, according to Yhemo Lee, when he made a song with YKB and DanDizzy.
Olamide heard the song and was immediately enthralled. He then contacted Yhemo Lee.
Olamide first expressed an interest in working with DanDizzy and asked for his contact details.
Unaware of the life-altering opportunity that lay ahead, Yhemo Lee strongly argued for Asake throughout their online conversation in the hopes that Olamide would consider endorsing him with a verse.
Olamide requested that Yhemo Lee give an audio file of Asake’s song “Omo Ope,” according to Yhemo Lee.
Asake immediately recorded his part and hastily sent it back to Yhemo Lee.
Surprisingly, Olamide started talking about marketing plans and within two days, he disclosed he wanted to sign Asake to his record company, YBNL.
Yhemo Lee, who was overjoyed, lost no time in visiting Olamide’s house, where the contract was ready and eagerly expecting their arrival.
Asake signed the forms that same day, much to everyone’s pleasure, signaling a crucial turning point in music career.

God bless Yhemolee and Olamide. Asake will never forget!
