Poju Oyemade, senior pastor of The Covenant Nation (TCN) and chairman of The Platform Nigeria, has rebutted claims made by Nigerians that Mercy Chinwo, a well-known gospel performer, charges exorbitant fees to sing at churches.
Rev. Fr. Chinenye Oluoma, a Catholic priest, described how gospel music musicians like Chinwo monetize their church services in a viral video.
Concerned folks have expressed their opinions on social media in a variety of ways in response to his claim.
Pastor Oyemade entered into the debate by tweeting on his official account that the artiste had given unpaid ministry last Sunday in his church.
He wrote: “Mercy Chinwo sang at our service at Lekki last Sunday, and the honorarium we gave was at our discretion. She made NO formal charges.”
