The Federal Government is currently meeting with representatives of organized labor, including the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress, at the Presidential Villa.
According to PUNCH, In an interview with our journalist on Wednesday evening, a trustworthy source close to the meeting confirmed this.
According to the source, the government-appointed negotiating team convened an emergency meeting in response to the NLC’s strike notification issued earlier in the day.
The NLC team was led by Joe Ajaero, the NLC’s national president, and the TUC team was led by Festus Osifo, the TUC’s president.
Recall that NLC on Wednesday issued a seven-day ultimatum to the government over the recent hike in the price of Premium Motor Spirit and other “unfriendly policies”.
The congress noted that Nigerians lost their peace of mind following the “subsidy is gone” comment made by President Bola Tinubu on May 29, 2023.
