Joy Bishara, a former student of Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State, and one of the 276 female students kidnapped by Boko Haram in 2014, has gotten engaged to her white lover in the United States.
Ms Bishara and her cousin Lydia Pogu escaped when their kidnappers were transporting them.
The United States Government later awarded the pair scholarships. On April 30, 2021, they will graduate from Southeastern University.
Bishara has a degree in social work, while Pogu has a degree in legal studies.
Photos of Bishara’s lover going on his knee to propose to her at a beach have gone viral, eliciting congratulatory messages from well-wishers.
